Chapter 46: Accidents

Immediate Steps

  1. Stop immediately — leaving the scene of any collision, even a minor one, can turn a routine incident into a criminal hit-and-run charge.
  2. Check yourself and others for injuries before worrying about vehicle damage.
  3. Move vehicles out of the active traffic lane if they are drivable and it is safe to do so, to avoid a secondary collision.
  4. Call 911 immediately for any injury, or for damage that appears significant.
