Chapter 39: Fog Driving
Use Low Beams, Not High Beams
Counterintuitively, high beams make fog worse to drive in — the light reflects directly back off the water droplets and creates a wall of glare. Low beams direct light downward and forward more usefully.
Slow Down and Extend Distance
Reduce speed meaningfully and extend your following distance well past the usual three-second gap, since your reaction window shrinks dramatically once a hazard only becomes visible a few car lengths ahead.
