Chapter 42: DUI Law
Legal Limits
California sets the legal blood alcohol limit at 0.08% for drivers 21 and over, and effectively zero tolerance for drivers under 21 — any measurable alcohol at all is a violation for a minor.
Consequences
A DUI conviction carries license suspension, significant fines, and the possibility of jail time, on top of the much larger risk of causing a crash that harms yourself or someone else. Refusing a chemical test when lawfully requested carries its own separate suspension under California's implied consent law.
